I started this rumor, and it comes from RT himself:

I was referring to the rumors in January from Red and Fix and teevee about a big stone in a drillcore, from the summer of 1998 program. RT confirmed that there were fragments of diamond in a drillcore, that if pieced together could have been a 16+ carat stone confirming those rumors. The quality of the stone is suspect,...true. You are right in assuming it could have been full of inclusions. But I was referring to the veracity of the rumors, and whether these posters were telling the truth. I think we can say the reputations of red, fix and teevee are solid in this rumor, they had a source(s), it was tied to Winspear.
