I agree he should not have made the promise if he was not determined to die in order to keep it. Nevertheless the reason he broke the promise had a lot to do with the Democrats than people know. Democrats pressed with everything they had and then when Bush yielded, they skewered him. On second thought, perhaps Bush received exactly what he deserved. That should teach Republicans never to trust Democrats again. (But Republicans are so dumb and spineless you gotta wonder).
