We've been through this before but your alert is a bit premature. First off it never got above zero today despit forcast and warmest they are predicting for next week is plus four.
Now I have been snowmobiling and monitoring drills working on the ice in the spring when the temp was in the teens and we still had four feet of ice. One spring it got so hot we were running geophysics on the ice in shorts.
The southern section of the road is getting soft so, depending on the next week or two it could close but one can still work off the ice for weeks out on the barrens.
This isn't southern Canada with a few inches of ice. It takes months to go from winter to summer here. And on average Snap Lake area runs 5 to 10 degrees lower then temps in Yellowknife.
