I think the problem is less Intel's and more the industry's in general. Intel has already demonstrated their motherboard running Rambus. As we saw in some of the news releases, the failure of the qualification of many of the parts that Intel and Rambus were receiving is the issue. Herman has mentioned to me on several occasions that Intel writes up very detailed, very complete specs but that no one in the industry designs to them because, up until now, there has been room for a lot of "slop" in many parts of the system.
