AirTouch Communications announced that it had started commercial CDMA service in the Los Angeles area. Starting May 15[that's 1996], its customers began using its new digital cellular service, Powerband™ . That is in response to your statement: (purchased the first week that digital PCS was commercially available in the US - November 1996, well ahead of first commercial CDMA phone introduction PrimeCo was in there too if I remember right.
