Thor, I disagree, the www internet makes your 'oil cartel' concerns passe.
The problem now is that the 'homemade inventor' would rather deny the
solution to 'world pollution' as retribution to a system that will prevent
him from obtaining money riches from his information or invention.
In the past this person had to work within the system, but now the
internet gives all the power to bypass it in an information mode only.
For example, working within the old system, try and make a good replacement
for Bill Gates Windows OS. No success, as ones have tried.
But now use the www internet.
Already happening, a good start made.
But no money as a reward possible.

so anyone with solutions for world problems,
put onto internet
no patens or copyright
just free info
and if good and real
it will be used
and some will make money off it
as Red Hat software does off Lynis
but the solution will not be stopped or prevented
noone or company or money can stop 'truth'
as in
post a way to cure cancer
enough info for someone to try it
and someone will try it
may take time, but if real and not a scam, then ....
most of those in cancer research will put it down and say no good
but someone outside the 'money flow' will validate it
and slowly but surly the truth will be knowned
if not, and it was a real cure, then sad for the human race
