Mr. Aloha, Thank you, for starting this thread. Like the other posters, I'm finding IQ charts to be a very valuable tool. And like you, I'm also from the land of Aloha. However, unlike most of you, I'm a Mac user. And from my extensive search, IQC is the first site to offer real time streaming quotes for us Mac users. Due to the lack of real time for the Mac, I purchased Virtual PC, a Windows emulator, in order to get real time quote off the internet. Because my broker, Dryfus, paid for the service if I traded 5 times per month, I went with Smartedge Online. I've been using their service for about a month now. However, I miss the Mac environment tremendously. I was elated when I found out about IQC for the Mac. I've just completed my 2 week trial, and I'd like to share my experience. There are two things that Stockedge Online offer that is lacking in IQC. One, is real time updates without the one minute delay. The second and most important is the ability to tile the charts that I want to watch. With Stockedge I can tile up as many charts as I like onto one window. A comfortable, readable number for my laptop is about 16 charts. I follow 5 minute candlesticks. I can't do this with IQC. However, I can open multiple windows, but the size of the charts diminishes with each window. I have queried this with IQC, and they admit they don't offer tiling at this stage. I consider this the biggest disadvantage of IQC. This being said, the other options of IQC far outweigh these disadvantages. The scans are phenomenal, especially the ability to produce your own scans. The charts and the indicators are far superior. The selection of chart timeframe is far superior. And most important for me, the Mac OS interface make it supremo.
The methodology that I am using at the moment is searching for 60 minute candlesticks that trend well, with substantial upside gains when the Bollinger band 20 ma is crossed to the upside, looking to exit when the upper band is crossed and/or a previous 60 minute low is then breached. I have about 20 charts that fit my criteria that I'll be watching tomorrow.
Looking forward to how others are using this unique service.
