I'm thinking now that the split could have been a calculated move by Monsieur Dell. Let's say he knows they're in for a rough patch. So, he splits the stock and suddenly, it moves down to, say, 30 or 29. Dell at 29!!!! A bargain! (even though that's still well ahead of the big down move it had last October). Very clever.
