Brightpoint Announces Integrated Logistics Contract With Iridium North America
INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 22, 1999--Brightpoint, Inc. (Nasdaq:CELL - news) announced today that it has entered into an integrated logistics services agreement which enhances the previously announced (June 3, 1998) Base Services Agreement entered into by and between Brightpoint and Iridium North America. Pursuant to the value-added services agreement, Brightpoint will perform additional integrated logistics services such as shipping to multiple destinations and end-users, customer support, order acceptance, billing and collections for Iridium North America, its service providers, roaming partners and agents.
Iridium North America is the sole owner and operator of Iridium services in North America. The Iridium System combines the worldwide reach of 66 low-earth-orbit satellites with additional access to multiple wireless systems and standards. The company is actively working with distribution partners to provide customers service that permits any type of telephone transmission -- voice, paging, data and fax -- to reach its destination virtually anywhere on Earth, at any time. The Iridium portfolio will facilitate communications for the traveling professional, residents of rural or underdeveloped areas, disaster relief teams and others.
