Gordon, thanks for responding to my post requesting reasonably full and reliable information about the performance of VLNC's LiPoly batteries. I am not surprised that this request went unfulfilled. I have also asked, elsewhere, for the same information about NiMH batteries and have not gotten more than partial data. Aggravating, but I will keep trying. One thing I have learned beyond doubt is that the various articles and summaries I have read always conflict with one another and frequently with various companies' claims. Even technical articles that purport to authoritatively summarize the state-of-the-art are unreliable, IMO, as they usually contain statements that are apparently incorrect, or at least grossly out-of-date.

Your statement about LiIon batteries not being noted for high power capacity agrees with some other non-quantititive comments I have seen. Also, I do not recall seeing any claim from VLNC regarding high power capacity. So, my present assumption is that (present) LiPoly batteries are unlikely to be important for power tools or EVs, though SLI batteries might be a successful application if supplemented by supercapacitors to satisfy the short term requirements for high power for starter-motors.
