Some Positive Comments From Our Friends at Merrill Lynch:

10:04am EST 22-Mar-99 Intra-day Special Notes -- Some Highlights:

Server Hardware / PCs

-Revenue growth has become a general concern given softer top lines at many leading names.

-We have pointed out that computer shipment growth is slowing according to the commerce department figures due to increasingly difficult comparisons. We are still bullish on computer demand, especially servers and storage, as internet computing becomes a driving force over the next few years. We believe that PC industry revenue growth will only be 5-7% over time as declining ASPs offset double digit unit gains. Our 1999 PC unit growth forecast remains 13-15%.

-We MAINTAIN our DELL estimates of $0.16 for the April quarter and $0.72 for the full year. According to our survey, DELL is doing (gaining) significant corporate share and we recommend accumulating the stock. We are less confident about Compaq and rate the shares neutral.

-The report also contained positive comments on EMC, SUNW, and IBM.

Interesting.....this series of comments from Merrill Lynch doesn't seem to be getting a lot of press today.

I'm just trying to put things in perspective.

Regards,

Scott
