Nokia is not competing in the low-end market - they are concentrating on high-end flat color monitors. Which happens to be a strategic asset when mobile handsets with high definition color screens arrive to market. I'm not sure how companies with no color display expertise are going to handle the transition.

It's a great idea not to trust what an individual company says of its own business. That's why it makes sense to assess W-CDMA by looking at what NTT-DoCOMO, the Korean companies, Nortel, Lucent, ETSI, Chinese operators and the twenty biggest GSM operators in the world are saying about W-CDMA.
