New EMA Wireless Messaging Group Formed to
Advance Wireless Messaging Solutions for the
Enterprise

Industry Coalition's First Meeting, Seminar and Technology
Preview to Occur at EMA '99

ARLINGTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 22, 1999-- The Electronic Messaging Association (EMA) today
announced formation of the Wireless Messaging Group (WMG), the first solutions-oriented committee focused on bringing
wireless messaging into mainstream enterprise messaging.

WMG's charter is to promote wireless technologies and solutions and educate corporate end users, IS/IT managers, CIOs and
other messaging specialists about wireless communications solutions and how organizations can increase productivity and lower
costs by integrating wireless technologies with their existing messaging systems today. The founding members, which include
Conxus Communications Inc., Infowave Software Inc. (VSE:IWM - news), Research In Motion Limited (NASDAQ:RIMM -
news; TSE:RIM - news), SmartServ Online Inc., Sybase Inc.'s Mobile and Embedded Computing Division (NASDAQ:SYBS
- news) and Wireless Knowledge LLC, are all leaders in defining the wireless messaging revolution.

''Wireless messaging has emerged as an important and crucial tool for the enterprise,'' said Bern Elliot, co-chairman of the
Wireless Messaging Group. ''The central role for wireless messaging is being driven by dramatically reduced costs, increased
functionality, greater accessibility to applications and wide-scale adoption of Internet-based messaging protocols. Wireless
Messaging Group united to help messaging managers better understand the wireless messaging options available and how
various wireless technologies can fit into existing solutions and make their businesses more efficient and productive.''

''EMA is delighted to be the parent forum for the Wireless Messaging Group,'' said Kerry C. Stackpole, president of EMA.
''As wireless messaging emerges from a stand-alone technology, it will be easier to integrate with existing key messaging
technologies, such as security, unified messaging, directory and current email applications, all of which have a home at EMA.''

WMG is one of several committees within the Electronic Messaging Association (http://www.ema.org), an inter-industry forum
dedicated to the promotion, development and use of electronic messaging technologies for secure global commerce. Founded
in 1983, EMA is now composed of more than 550 user and provider member companies representing major Fortune 500
corporations across industries such as aerospace, automotive, financial services, pharmaceuticals, consumer products, retail,
telecommunications, natural resources, consulting, hardware and software development and network service providers.

WMG currently consists of six leading companies and is looking to expand membership to further enhance and promote
wireless messaging as it applies to electronic messaging. The founding members invite other companies involved in wireless
messaging to join the initial committee meeting and help facilitate the development and interoperability of wireless messaging
through discussion, education and critical review. For more information on the Wireless Messaging Group and the participating
members, please visit the EMA Web site at ema.org, or visit the Wireless Messaging Group Pavilion, booth
