Look - I don't share your obsession with Qualcomm. I have no "problem with CDMA growth rate". I'm concerned with the GSM growth rate, which has been consistently underestimated by most industry observers. The CDMA growth is relevant because it's the reason why people keep getting wrong their GSM predictions. The world has been waiting for GSM growth to slow down as a result of the CDMA challenge. This has not happened.

It's one thing to manufacture something at a low profit margin (monitors for Nokia) if the product makes up around 3% of the entire company sales. It's quite another matter when an entire division of a company are consistently producing a loss - quarter after quarter.

Is spending hundreds of millions of dollars in W-CDMA really "neutral in technology choice" in your opinion? I don't think so. Companies like Lucent and Nortel are giving a huge boost for W-CDMA by making substantial investments in it. Moreover, the Koreans have explicitly stated that they are considering installing W-CDMA in Korea, even if this 3G solution is not compaitble with the IS-95 networks currently in place in Korea. I'm hard pressed to find this comment neutral - it sure sounds positive for W-CDMA.
