Mike and gang:

I have mentioned in the past that we have developed some very amateurish "markers" for endeavouring to track Dell. We have not had sufficient time to confirm the accuracy of them, over a lengthy period, but they have done an acceptable job to this point in time.

I wish to be on record as noting that they point to a weaker PC sales situation than was suggested by certain other analysts today. Having been one of the very few who earlier stated in print that Dell would "miss the revenue figures mildly" but would "probably meet the profit expectation" for Q4, I'm reasonably happy with our efforts on this topic:
