It's starting to dawn on some that the US considers its agriculture and food supply to be a matter of national and world security, before Y2K happens. Parties who are perceived as interfering with this deserve what they get.

So I would expect increased -- perhaps extreme -- action going forward on any matters related to US agriculture, especially in the next few months. Particularly, any action by groups which threaten to destabilize US agriculture or output could warrant "special" measures by the US, going beyond even trade sanctions.

The rest of the world may not be ready for Y2K, but the US must be ready to give emergency aid. This kind of thing only happens once in a thousand years, after all.

If North Korea and the USSR are having severe problems now, imagine what effect Y2K might have, even if only moderate disruptions occurr.
