Eric,

Someone please correct me if I'm mistaken, but I believe the problem resides within TurboTax (however, I'm using Quicken5). Ver5 also handles short sales within Quicken , but the problem occurs when Turbo Tax attempts to import a short sale. Both the cost basis and sales price are negative numbers which TurboTax does not allow on the Schedule D. In addition, TurboTax swapped the sales & acquisition dates for the short sale transactions during the import process (TurboTax generated a warning message stating that short sales had to be manually entered). I won't even begin the discuss the shortcomings with respect to options.

Since all of my transactions were already in Excel, it was easier to simply generate a TXF file and import that into TurboTax and circumvent Quicken.
