Just thought I'd post this link to one of the HIT Lab's current grants:

Not withstanding the apparent bad blood between Dr. Furness (HIT Lab)and Microvision, it appears that Dr. Furness is still committed to VRD systems.

I decided to peruse "The Visionary Position" just to see what it does mention about the technology and Microvision. In my scanning of several later chapters, I got the impression that neither the company nor Dr. Furness were in the "wrong". Tom has justfication in being disappointed in the leveraging of the VRD technology to various industries. The company has justification in reigning in Tom's efforts to spread the technology. For Microvision to have immediately gone off into several different research efforts would have probably doomed the company to failure even if the technology proved itself. Alot of what I read just skims the surface of what a decent book should. It fails to point out the motivations of the primary parties in puting the whole "conflict" in perspective. Even the book eventually points out that at some point a company must "Fire the inventor" and let management take over.

Personally, I expect that once the VRD becomes a success in the market and Dr. Furness gets some of the justifiable credit for his work on this technology, certain hatchets will be buried. Of course, I don't know either Tom or Rick personally so don't put too much credence to my speculation.
