most brokers aren't astute enough to allow an individual to sell puts in a margin account let alone an ira...the concept of put selling equating to going long is beyond their comprehension.

selling cc's depends...if you want the underlying and you should, or else not sell the put,sell the cc when put, if the underlying still flat or down further reduces your cost basis...other strategy is to roll put forward..

i don't mind paying the tax man his due as long as i get to keep something...i sell leaps positions which afford long term capital gains..rolling of puts can give a short term tax loss if needed..

i tend to write for large premiums at a moment like we are in..go long the depressed underlying...and hope i'm right..the upside in a stock as dell can be explosive...and if not, allow the time to deteriorate the leaps premium...good luck, ed a.
