Thanks, I did read some of your previous posts (unfortunately after I posted my post) and I realize that you have been addressing this problem all along. I apologize if it seemed to be directed at you, you have been doing a great job on the Datek thread. I was kinda trying to make the point that I hung in with Datek to the end thinking that this was a market wide thing (non shorting) but when I started with a couple of other firms I realized that Datek's policies had nothing to do with the other firms. I can not only short virtually any stock now but can even short BBs. Of course the commissions are hugher but at least I am free to trade again! Overall, I would say that I was so taken by Datek's speed and ease (and price) that I overlooked the gradual change taking place at Datek concerning shorting.
