It is my understanding that Hewlett-Packard has been scaling back their use of Data General products. I received this information from Data General's Investor Relations department last week. Given this, I don't understand why HP would be a leading candidate to buy DGN. One reason of course, could be to replace their current supplier with their own products (if they purchased DGN).
