IF they are using the 5169...and who says they are...but...
The interesting thing about the slow boot problem is that when AMD first demoed the SS7 100 MHZ bus K6 it was using the MICROSTAR 5169
"muthaboard". So Gateway probably asked AMD which motherboard to use and they said the Microstar.
This problem doesn't surprise me, especially in light of the Taiwan chipsets/motherboards. It takes them too long to get them right and the rarely run as fast as Intels chipsets. AMD better have their own chipset and motherboard for the K7. I said this 6 months ago.
If AMD tells Gateway this is a Microstar problem and does try and fix it then they are just plain "really dumb".
