When will old traders learn (including myself)? Amazon moves up ahead of options expiration and down afterward. Count the number of times this has happened. History is no perfect prediction of the future, but in this highly speculative stock and sector, the effect of options is amplified, IMO. Amazongonenutty.com will be hard pressed to move up to the 142 level again during the next few months. It more likely will head down unless some really great news comes out about sales expectations. While we are speculating, maybe Microsoft will split up and sell their software business to Sun and buy up Amazon for $40 billion? That is about what it will take to make a difference in this stock in the short-term.

A couple more attempts at 135-140 are possible, but it is not headed higher than that anytime soon, IMO. Amazon may reach new highs by next winter but before then it is headed to 70.
