Why is TV-Net So Valuable?
If the net is going to become like TV, why is that internet companies are already worth more than TV networks?
The answer, quite simply, is that companies plan to "watch" you, as much as you watch them. By figuring out who you are, and what you like, they intend to sell you highly specialized content and products.
The shift is from broadcast advertising to "narrowcast" advertising. If the content creators can more accurately target the audience, and track it, advertisers will find it much more efficient to reach their audience.
This essential difference between TVs and Video on the internet is the primary reason why internet properties are so valuable.
IMO Alan's history Lesson is slightly in accurate,
<<Since 'pluck yew' is rather difficult to say, the difficult consonant cluster at the beginning has gradually changed to a labiodental fricative 'F', and thus the words often used in conjunction with the one-finger-salute are mistakenly thought to have something to do with an intimate encounter.>>
The labiodental fricative "PH" came before "f". In 1492, when Columbus sailed the ocean blue...the native American's were somewhat virgin to the European ways of war as any history text from the period states. You can then see the kinder, gentler, "PH" looses out later in 1500's to the hard sounding French "F" as the native Americans become aware they are getting 'plucked' for their woman and their gold...(LOL)
