Jerome,

We have been to hell and back. I rode this bad boy all the way down to 5 1/8. After soiling my underwear a few times the stock miraculously rose from the ashes.

Sorry to hear that SNDK didn't get much attention at CeBIT. I guess they will have to let overwhelming market demand push revenues for the time being.

I think the security features of the MMC and the rapidly rising capacity will be a selling point over SmartMedia. Also, the manufacturers loyal to the CF slot will likely be interested in MMC once SNDK decides to push them in that direction. Right now the design-ins for CF compatible hardware devices (bar code scanners, phone/data modems, WAN and LAN cards, pagers, GPS...) should keep the momentum for CF going.

I actually see MMC as more of a threat to CF than SmartMedia or The Memory Twig.

I predict that 2000 will bring handheld devices with CF slots for hardware and multiple MMC slots for storage. For example, the Pontis mp3 player has 2 MMC slots sandwiched in a height of less than 1 cm.
