It is the capacity for rational thought. When humans veer from this and act upon "instinct" (which humans do not possess), or "belief", it is then that they fall back into the domain of animal-man. I grant you, a great many homo-sapiens occupying space on this planet right now are animals -- they are parrots with varying sized beaks. I do not deny the "forces of evolution", but embrace the highest evolved state to date: the human who utilizes his/her rational mind. I propose that tribalism outlived its usefulness as far back as the ancient Egyptian Empire. Tribalism today contributes mainly to racism and war. FT
