It is not possible to tell, visually, if an appplication is
"100% Pure Java". There are several ways to tell, one of the
surest being to run the bytecode through a special virtual
machine that does not allow native method calls and only special
driver references for I/O.

At www.javaworld.com there is a series on learning about JavaBeams
and ActiveX. Furthermore, www.javasoft.com has white papers
on the architecture of JavaBeans, Java RMI, and IDL tools for
creating CORBA compliant objects. The Object Management Group
has further information on creating IIOP applications and CORBA.

It is generally an insult to compare JavaBeans and CORBA to
MicroSoft's COM. On a superficial level, they appear to be
identical technology, but so is comparing a Porsche to a Honda.
MicroSoft's COM technology relies on virtual function tables
for their method delegation and is not a true component model
despite their literature.
