[OT]: John -
Any specific area(s) in the wonderful world of physics?
I served in this facility for many years, I'm also probably one of the few that didn't accidentally get zapped by some of the stuff we had running around in the basements.
okstate.edu

I never forget one late night when I was off in the corner of a room working on a project and one of the PhD candidates was working on his project. Well, he had been sitting there playing his 12 string guitar in the dark and I was operating under just a desk lamp as not to disturb the photon counters. He was playing real mellow stuff and I was sort of drifting off - guess he was too as shortly after the music stopped I heard this big POP! POP! when he went up to check something on the optics table and got hit by a couple of Joules of purely invisible light on his hand. Made a very impressive hole about 1/8" deep if I recall.
