I have heard that there has been a glut of ginseng for a few years now, in canada and in the U.S. and some farmers were getting 1/4th of the price they were used to 5-10 years ago. I have heard that many small ginseng companies were going out of business because of decreased profit. And in canada, evidently the governement used to subsidize ginseng farming, but that that was cut back last year, adding to the number of farmers that went out of business. With the cycles of the market and farmers closing down, there should eventually be a swing back to higher prices. In china, last year there was an article about the ginseng shortage. This helped give rmgg some impetus and higher stock prices a few months ago. I assume that shortage still exists and will continue to be a plus for rmgg.
As far as using 3 year old roots, I don't think that's a problem for consumers in general. Its just that the farmers get better prices for the older roots if they have them.
Some reports indicate that a lot of ginseng products have little or no ginseng in it. That's why I'm glad that rmgg has to deal with all the quality control in china. At least their product will be a quality product.
I'm thinking I would like to BUY some of their product, since it is vitually guaranteed, and am wondering if or when they are going to offer on the internet.... |
