911turbo...re: margin....keep it in perspective concur with margin used wisely....but most are not disciplined enough to know when,how, and most importantly how much...i would never recommend use to a novice investor... too many horror stories from the less than savvy "investor"...i think there should be stronger sec guidelines on how margin can be used...most tend to draw down at the wrong moment, chasing a momo play, instead of leveraging quality at a weak moment......sometimes encouraged by inexperienced brokers... not a bad time now for prudent use of margin to go long dell,intc,msft,emc,...or use the capacity to sell puts on same... good luck, ed a.
