**UPDATE** Sorry I took so long to get here. My computer was being somewhat temperamental. I was not able to actually see Jan tonight. She was in the recovery room longer than we were originally led to believe would be the case, and unfortunately I had to leave before she came to her room. I was there when the doctor came out and gave the summary. Without going into too much detail, the surgeons did find stuff that would have caused serious problems (boney protrusions and scar tissue). These were removed and a sheath was put around the nerves to protect from future irritation and to prevent leaking of fluids. The doctor sounded optimistic, though you can never tell until she is up and walking around. She is expected to be immobile for a couple of days and then she will start her rehab. One of her worries was a spinal headache and the doctor was adamant that she would not have this. She has a private room and I placed a large bag of Cheetos prominently on the guest chair. She has some very nice flowers as well. When I left the hospital, her good friends Donna and Linda, as well as her Father, were still there and planning on waiting for her to come out of the recovery room. I will be going to see her around noon (PST) tomorrow and will give another update then. Tom
