If you know SF itself, we are in a little enclave called "West Portal" which is between the neighborhoods of St. Francis Wood and Forest Hill (right near Twin Peaks). You can't see us from 101. We moved to SF in 1992 from Houston. Now that was a real choice, although going from a place where you could get a nice house with yard for less than $100K was tough, you can't get a rat infested crackhouse here for that.

Consider yourself lucky -- at least you are not arriving now and trying to buy. I have some friends who are in that situation and they are considering developing a sideline dispensing hallucinogens.

So far have been pretty lucky vis a vis the canine set. First thing we did was put in tall hedges so the pooches would leave their business in someone else's yard. Worked like a charm.
