Hm-m- explosion creates equal and opposite reaction accelerating pistol back into the crook of the hand. Powder charge creates all explosive force. Time of complete combustion determines force. Longer barrel length, faster burning powder should increase force. Mass of bullet should not matter unless acceleration is slowed enough to allow complette combustion in the closed system. I think the equation of acceleration depends on velocity squared (i.e. more important than bullet mass). Chamber leakage of gas should decrease recoil. Lets see the equations --
