Qwest Communications (QWST). This morning a friend of mine in Singapore, whom I trust and is in a position to know, told me that QWST approached PCNTF to discuss possible acquistion two weeks ago. PCNTF was responsive to the approach and the talks have led to a scheduled trip of two QWST people to meet with PCNTF management in Hong Kong next Wednesday with a visit to Singapore on Thursday. After spending several hours researching both PCNTF and QWST today, I decided to add PCNTF to my holdings.
Even if nothing comes of the Qwest discussions PCNTF looks strong based on fundamentals and growth prospects. I also discovered that Qwest acquired EUNET (a Pan-European ISP) last year so acquistion of PCNTF would seem to be in keeping with its strategic global growth plans. Also, with a $20+ billion market cap Qwest certainly has the acquistion capital to make an attractive offer. I'll keep the board posted as I get any further info.
