uniView 310 Revolutionizes Convergence Technology
New Technology for Vertical Markets Completed
DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 24, 1999--uniView Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:UVEW - news) raises the bar for convergence technology with the release of its uniView 310(TM) set top box (STB) reference design for business and consumer applications. This second-generation STB combines the full power of a PC, DVD player, digital audio and video-on-demand capabilities with the advanced Internet access, e-mail, fax and TV programming features of the uniView 210(TM).

The new reference design is a distinct product that expands uniView's technical positioning and offerings. The 310, along with the company's agreement with Motorola, fully positions uniView to meet all existing market demands. By operating with Windows '98(TM), the new uniView 310 incorporates WordPad(TM), Internet Explorer(TM) and MS Outlook Express and supports unlimited applications including interactive gaming, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. The new applications build on the success of the uniView 210 STB, and offer broader convergence technologies for uniView Technologies' customers in the hospitality, real estate, healthcare and multi-level marketing industries.

''The availability of the 310 is a natural next step for us and an integral part of our long-term development and financial growth strategies,'' said Patrick A. Custer, president and CEO of uniView. ''We've been working with a variety companies to develop custom convergence solutions that meet the specific needs of their customers. Our recent agreements with Hotel Rui and FreeLinQ are just two examples of how our innovative technology can be applied to vertical markets.''

In the uniView 310, flexibility and extensibility has reached a new level with the integration of complete PC features such as an Intel Celeron(TM) processor, 3.2GB hard drive, PCI slots, 32MB SDRAM memory with Dolby(TM) Digital audio and MPEG II video support. Most importantly, the uniView 310 delivers ease of use with a customized interface, wireless trackball, wireless key board, remote control and optional monitor for existing vertical markets.

Because of the increased connectivity through the PCI slots, 310 users have a variety of Internet access options including the uniView Xpressway(TM), Ethernet, ISDN, ADSL or a standard modem for quick, easy access to information channels such as interactive gaming, online banking, shopping, weather and news. When used with a television, users can simultaneously toggle between the television, Internet and other applications.

Companies in any industry needing an unique solution that incorporates desk-top fax capabilities with video-on-demand, teleconferencing, quality Internet access and general computing features for an enterprise environment will find that uniView customizes each feature and application to meet each customer's specific needs. Additionally, the company works closely with its customers to evaluate the demands of the end user in the specific market and ensure full satisfaction and surpass expectations.
