There has been an increasing tendency for the market to react very late to known events. For example, stocks are moving up big just prior to splits. BRK didn't move big until the day before the annual report. MSFT started moving up when the trial recessed. There are many other examples. It's as if the money pours in at the last minute, and doesn't anticipate as far into the future. So I conclude that although amzn and yahoo have moved up previously 1 month prior to earnings, they may now wait until the last week before earnings, or even a couple days. We'll see soon enough.
