Writting covered calls are not looking for short-term play, they are insurance for protecting your stock price falling down. When you did your homework and bought a stock but the price keep falling down, it made you feel if there are something wrong with the stock. In this case, VFI went up $5 a day then can't stop dropping since then made you feel ?#@*.

I've used the same execuse (I am in for long term) when my stock prices fell, but I don't use that any more. I tried to find out what I did wrong.
