john...re: jaffe article...sub 1k pc... how un sub 1000 can dell get....like 999...a great marketing ploy.. agree concern if in the 600-800 range, but if they sold it for 1001, would that make analysts happy...i'm curious of dell price structure with their only processor supplier intc...perhaps a better discount due to loyalty, unlike the amd and cyrix users... i'm curious how many 999 machines dell will sell....my thought is that it brings new traffic to their sales force...who probably upsell the customer to a better machine....think of dell business model..one dollar does not violate same!!!! cheers, ed a.
