I don't think you understand how this helps consumers. Here's a link to my experience: Message 8371683. I looked at a Durango several times before I decided to buy one. I then used two competing on-line services, Auto-By-Tel and Carpoint, to get two prices on identically equipped Durangos. There was a definite price savings by picking one over the other, and I didn't have to waste time bickering with the sales geek over the price. Just went in, filled out the paperwork (which still takes too long, IMO), and drove away.

I agree with you that Autoweb.com may not have a competitive advantage over the other services I mentioned, but I firmly believe they benefit the consumer by allowing them to go to the dealership knowing what they're going to have to pay. I've mentioned in previous posts that I thought the prospectus was weak, and will most likely bail out after the 30-day holding period is over.
