What he and other thread homesteaders mean is that this thread has a certain canon that is decreed by its Lorded technocracy. However, the canon has had to shift lately. The typical threadster used to be a technologically savvy investor who was content with discussing bits and bytes, while the great unwashed on other threads were oblivious to the great Coming of Cable. The canon has now changed to one in which the technocracy must predict great gloom and doom, and predict the coming demise of this same company that they are holding, in the expectation that this fear will penetrate to the depths of the new investors, who of course are ignorant, blind, and incompetent. Once they realize the folly of their ways, they will sell at a loss, lose their shirt, and depart, thus leaving the technocracy at peace once more to discuss bits and bytes.
