Michael,

As the old-timers in this thread (I am not one, though) always point out, DELL is not just a boxmaker and the barrier to entry is not low by any means. Why, then, do you think that other boxmakers are failing to replicate the DELL model even after so many attempts?

Ig broadband takes off, it will open the grounds for a host of other applications. Lately, the lament has been about the lack of killer applications, which should be addressed then. The only worry that boxmakers may have with broadband is a regression to the server based thin client model. DELL therefore needs to get serious about server development IMO.

But stagnation after broadband (as predicted by some on the Michael Burke thread) is unlikely.

DELL is still very far away from being the server market, similar to MSFT is the windows market.

BTW, have you noticed that DELL is forecasting some serious growth in Asia? I rememeber having a discussion on that topic in the MB thread too in recent past, when the general conclusion was that the cheap-minded Asians will never buy DELL. :-)
