Nice effort (plus you've added to the bottom line..;-)

For all their marketing skills, SYNCR could lean a few tricks from the Phamacutical Outfits who use the terms "in-service" and "detailing" when introducing new products. They make SURE the "stuff" is understood, sold and presold, since the easiest distance between a doctor and his wallet is yours.

I remember when Comp-USA first opened up in my area. Just about all the sales staff was well versed in geek-Speak. With the redesign of the stores, and an emphasis on filling wheelbarrows for the cash register, the geek-speakers are fewer, and the resources in house as far as staff is getting worse. I've stopped altogether going to Computer City. I think they must have cut back their staff by half. Even some Staples and Office Max stores are better.

I digress. From what I understand, this initial shipment to Comp-USA fulfills a committment I believe. Later with a spike of interest, the geeks will speak a different tune, especially if they get it installed on their own equipment. Then the word of mouth will kick serious butt.

I expect subsequent releases to lean toward CDROM, which has been THE godsend when dealing with the increased code for just about anything, plus that will give them better space to "sell" the other items. Actually, they might even place all on a CD, and the more you pay, the more they "unlock".

Come to think of it, the perception that caching software died with Win-95 is great. Hurricane & Magna Ram (for expansion of memory "overhead")seem to be the real competition to Softram, and I read and have heard that Hurricane even with their "patents", is only as good as the person satisfied with it. If this (Windrenlin)has networking applications, WOW. You MIS types know the big bucks needed to get through bottlenecks even on small lan systems.

I guess I'll have to get me a copy. I might get lucky and get a cheapo Superfaast at a show coming up on the 1st..;-))

Thanks for the post Jim!
