There is one factor which you haven't considered: it is my conjecture that this news was a shock to ATHM and T. Comcast did this behind their backs. They had to. There was too much at risk that T could marshal a counter strike. That's why everyone is shell shocked and unable to reach a conclusion. I'm not under any career protecting need to ignore what is in our faces.

If this is true, it is one of the most brilliant corporate moves ever and I want to congratulate Comcast for it. A close reading of my comments will show you why Comcast had to do this. They were preserving their interest and they were busting away from a situation which has deteriorated since the FCC decision. The result of this bold move, this risky gamble, will be to enrich this company beyond belief.

That's what I always wanted ATHM to do, go for it. Unfortunately, that would take me as CEO to pull it off and Malone and I would have had fist fights over the issues. He's a big dude and though I've been hard on him, it is he whom we all have to thank for broadband.
