George,

That was very interesting. I believe Technocrat (where is Kurt?) had an interesting opinion that it was in Sun's best interest to hold off on the SAN world as long as possible, even though it is inevitable. I was wondering if others feel this way?

Sun isn't exactly an Windows NT cheerleader and it is clear Win NT will be very big for SANs and EMC wants to work in this space. All these big companies seem to shout about open vs. proprietary, but they all basically want their proprietary solution in whatever to become 'the' open one. I find it interesting too that people like IBM are partnering more with the likes of DELL and EMC. The Wintel world definitely isn't getting weaker because of it. Perhaps Sun will soon have to partner with someone in the NT space?

I like Sun, but still am trying to figure out why they are so slow in SAN adoption? They talk about interoperability being a mess, but I am sure they have been testing and working on stuff for years, not months. They seem like they could take the bull by the horns in this field but aren't.

all imho
