In my opinion, I would have to agree that during the timeframe that you define (1992-present) there were many changes that seemed to occur that caused a basic "loss of focus" on the strengths on NetWare. I was no longer at Novell during this time. It seemed as though the "fast growing start-up" Novell was invaded by modern carpet-baggers looking to make a quick buck. "Big boys" in various parts of the company stopped listening to those with vision and understanding of technology. Focus moved to "how to attack Microsoft" instead of "how to move Novell forward". The best defense never puts points on the board. (Well, maybe an occasional safety?)

Yes. During this time there seemed to be some loss of vision. I think that is back and is growing. The decline took some time ... the recovery will take time. But no one I know in Provo is interested in making it a long time ...
