I just got some research data compiled by Lazlo Birinyi which could
be useful to understand the recent volatility on technology shares.
I found Birinyi quite thorough in his data compilation and he has an impressive collection of historical data that goes back for many years. Excerpts:
-The current decline in technology is unsettling but normal. Since 1990 the S&P500 has had four 10% corrections. But the semis have had
22 such corrections and computer names have had 23.
-The average decline in the computer sector has been 19% and lasted
110 days. The average rally has been 33% and lasted 137 days.
