The infrastructure loss is trivial. The future sales of CDMA is what matters. These sales will be enormous. Handsets this quarter will swamp the infrastructure losses. They are a minor piece of history now, like the 1987 crash, which will be very, very hard to find on a 20 year graph.

The interviewer was right to focus on the 'world phone' aspect. That is what this is all about. Vodafone/AirTouch will be wanting a 'world phone' not Balkanized standards. Look at the mess in 'Yugoslavia'. We don't want that.
