That really is OT here, but wait... Microsoft is involved.

Partly because of the Microsoft involvement, it is not clear that what will soon be the second largest cable company will stick with @home. Microsoft owns about 11% interest in Comcast which is one of the prime @home partners. Microsoft is also a joint venture parner in RoadRunner, an alternative broadband service. Prime partners in RoadRunner are the cable companies TimeWarner and MediaOne. Comcast is now buying MediaOne. What becomes of @home. I don't know. But it's fairly clear where Microsoft would like to see it go.

Now, of course, this isn't the place to discuss what will happen with @home since it has its own topic, but it is worth noting that Microsoft's interests in this market lie elsewhere.
