John, Israel now has over 200+ functional nuclear weapons. And they are not all stored in Israel, so attacking Israel proper will not destroy their retaliatory capability.

I think most rational Middle Eastern Leaders know it's suicide to tweak Israel's nose now. And do not forget the long enmity between Iran and the Arabic World- hundreds of years right back to Roman times when the Iranians were known as the Parthians and fought Roman domination while the Arabs allied with and cooperated with Rome. In fact in the 1980's it was Israel that supplied spare parts and other weaponry to the Iranians for their American-built aircraft during the Iran-Iraq War.

Indeed I suspect that Iranian-Israeli relations are a lot warmer than we realize. It makes good sense geopolitically and strategically for Iran and Israel to be friends....

But even more importantly- are we getting ourselves into a protracted ground war in Yugoslavia?
