When de-regulation hit the electric and gas utility industry a couple of years ago, it became clear that the survivors were going to be those companies that were able to expand aggressively, control their costs, and get into the international business arena. I believe that GTE will be able to do all these things, and that this stock is a solid 15% gainer per year, including dividends.

Just buy it and put it away. Wake up in the year 2010 or so and compare the value to today. You will be pleasantly pleased.
